Local Attractions

Historic Dockyard

The Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, just a few minutes by ferry from Portsmouth, offers the chance to step onboard a real submarine and learn what life is like stuck in cramped conditions with enemy ships nearby, as well as to hear heroic tales and learn about the lives of the crew.
Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Palace House and Abbey
Few car museums in the world can match the unique collection of the world renowned National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, which is home to over 250 vehicles from the earliest examples of motoring to world record breakers like Blue bird and Golden Arrow.
The Palace House
Formerly the 14th century Great Gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House is set in glorious grounds and gardens with immaculate spreading lawns and walkways overlooking the Beaulieu River.
Charles Dickens' Birthplace Museum
Charles Dickens was born in this modest house in Portsmouth, on 7th February 1812. The furniture, ceramics, glass, household objects and decorations have faithfully been re-created in the Regency style of the time and the exhibition room features a display on Charles Dickens and Portsmouth, as well as a small collection of memorabilia.
Other Attractions
Within an hours drive is the world famous New Forest (40 miles) and Marwell Zoological Park (30 miles) in Winchester, this really is a unique wildlife experience, 100 acres of stunning Hampshire parkland is home to 1000 various species of animals and birds.
