The Seven Eggs Clare Wood Solo Exhibition at Harewood House – 6 July to 29 September

Clare Woods, has recently had major solo shows at the Hepworth Wakefield, the Southampton City Art Gallery and Modern Art London. Early this year she also installed her commission for the Olympic Park using over 80,000 painted ceramic tiles. This exhibition will present new work made in response to the landscape and collections at Harewood. Not known for her sympathetic depiction of the verdant glory of the British countryside, her work has a sinister and savage edge yet in its entirety presents a startlingly beautiful form.

Leeds Championship Dog Show at Harewood House - 26 to 28 July

One of the UK’s largest outdoor dog shows. The show not only offers stalls, stands and competitions but is also a qualifying round for Cruft’s later on in the year.

Midnight Tango – Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace at Leeds Grand Theatre - 29 July to 3 August

Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace have dazzled television audiences for seven series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing with their stunning Tango routines. Now they have created their own live show – a breathtaking evening bringing all the drama, sensuality and elegance of this most exciting of dance forms to life. Set in a late night bar in downtown Buenos Aires and featuring some of the finest Tango dancers in the world performing to live music, Midnight Tango takes you on a journey into a heart of this intoxicating city. As danger and excitement, joy and jealousy, pain and passion all combine – this is a spectacular and explosive evening not to be missed!

Hairspray at Leeds Grand Theatre – 20-29 August

Musical theatre's biggest, sunniest, funniest show is back! In Hairspray, it's 1962, the '50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion – to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, 'The Corny Collins Show' and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the programme's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Welcome to the '60s!

Leeds arena
opens september 2013

An exciting new addition to the city’s music scene is The Arena (opening autumn 2013). It is the first fan-shaped venue in the country and it has a capacity of 13,500. The venue’s central location means visitors can easily access top quality hotels, shops, restaurants and bars in our vibrant city centre It is also only stone’s throw away from well-established attractions including Leeds City Museum, The Grand Theatre, the 02 Academy, City Varieties and the Millennium Square.  First five acts announced Elton John, JLS, Cirque de  Kaiser Chief and Micky Flannagan.

rugby League World Cup
england & wales 2013

The Rugby League World Cup will be coming to England in November 2013.  Two games will be played at Headingley Carnegie Stadium only 15 minutes drive from the hotel.  These games will be played on 8th November 2013, New Zealand Vs Papua New Guinea, and 15th November 2013 which will be the quarter final.  The other two matches that will be played in England will be played in Huddersfield and Halifax.

Tickets for the World Cup are on sale now.  Tickets for all matches can be purchased either in person or by telephone, 0113 242 5242, from Leeds Visitor Centre.  Ticket prices start from £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
